A beautiful mid 19th century French cartonnage edition of Histoire de la Découverte de l’Amérique, Victoires et Conquêtes de Christophe Colomb, published in Limoges by Eugène Ardant et C. Thibaut.
The binding is especially striking in ivory, gilt and cobalt blue with an intricate geometric design and a large hand colored landscape illustration to the front. The interior includes an illustrated frontispiece depicting Christopher Columbus.
Good antique condition overall. The spine remains intact with some visible age related wear, particularly along the edges and extremities. Light foxing and toning throughout consistent with age.
