A gorgeous mid 19th century French cartonnage book, Choix de Beaux Exemples, which translates to Choice of Fine Examples, published in Tours by Ad Mame et Cie in 1851.
Created as an illustrated collection of exemplary stories and passages drawn from ancient and modern authors for the instruction and amusement of young readers. The book includes engraved illustrations throughout.
The binding on this one is especially beautiful with an elaborate sky blue and gold floral design covering the front, back and spine.
Very good antique condition overall. The spine is remarkably well preserved with very little wear. Light age related wear to the extremities and some scattered foxing to the interior pages, all consistent with its 175 year age.
