An exceptionally scarce early 19th century French Creil black transferware footed strainer, richly decorated with alternating architectural and pastoral landscape scenes around the exterior and a finely detailed grapevine border. Raised on three charming paw feet with an elegant pierced floral interior, this uncommon form was once used for draining fruit and vegetables and today makes a remarkable display piece for the collector of early French creamware. Two small rim chips noted.
